Set during a time period resembling the late middle ages, three bumbling, Musketeer-like dogs loyally served their king as palace guards. Of the three, purple furred Yippee was tallest, white furred Yappee was of medium height, and orange furred Yahooey was shortest. Their royal highness had to duck for cover whenever he summoned his “goofy guards” as they were prone to making flamboyant, crash entrances. Their incompetence caused the king a considerable amount of grief, but apparently never enough for him to permanently replace them.
Yippee, Yappee & Yahooey was the third segment on Peter Potamus & His Magic Flying Balloon, the other segments being Peter Potamus and Breezly & Sneezly (later swapped with Ricochet Rabbit). Individual segments were between 6-7 minutes in length.
Yippee, Yappee and Yahooey bucked the trend of most Hanna-Barbera characters who joined ensemble casts once their own series had ended. The three goofy guards remained stuck in the past, quietly fading into obscurity after 23 episodes.
